I grew up in the mountains in Estes Park, Colorado, but moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1969, right after dirt was invented in the Sonoran desert. I was educated in graphic arts and owned an advertising agency for more than 20 years. In 1987, I started writing software and have authored several commercial programs, including an addictive, strategic computer game of chance I named FIVE PLAY Casino. Now I am the web designer and programmer of the 146 sites in the USA Web Directories network and a professional photographer and photo retoucher.
I have two black cats named Black Bart and Black Jack, and I enjoy outdoor sports such as fishing, hiking, boating and camping as well as traveling all over Arizona and other western states. I am a member of American Mensa, and served twice on its national board of directors. I'm into playing games like chess, Boggle, Stratego, and MasterMind, and often engage in discussions of politics and philosophy. I believe my artistic talents and my love for animals and Nature have inspired a true passion for photography in me.
Photography is a good medium of expression for me because I approach it with an artist's eye. Digital cameras make it easy since they are especially well-suited for taking photos for my work on the Web. I can shoot the picture, upload it to my computer, retouch and resize the image all electronically, and then post it to my websites or print it out myself. I shot more than 32,000 photos in 2011 and almost 19,000 in 2012. What would have cost thousands of dollars for film, developing, and prints years ago is now almost nothing by comparison. Plus, the quality of digital cameras and the images they produce is finally excellent.
Today, I specialize in natural art, scenics, and nature and wildlife photography for travel and tourism. My objectives are to take great photos of the fascinating creatures and the many beautiful places that still exist in this country and show these pictures to as many people as I can. I want to help everyone appreciate Nature, get them to take better care of the environment, and show them where to go to experience it all for themselves. This gallery presents some of my best images for your enjoyment, and potentially, for use in magazines and other websites.
